Colorful Plexiglass Self-portraits using household products

If you are reading this currently then let me start this off by saying my heart is deeply saddened by the constant injustice in this country. The racism and violence towards POC is disgusting and needs to end. I struggled with even doing self portraits today. However as this quarantine continues on I feel the need to create and experiment for my own sanity. I wanted to use one material in two different ways to create portraits unlike what I’ve done of myself. I wanted the emphasis on emotion than in me “looking cute”. I found some inspiration online and went to buy a piece of plexiglass. This tool will be useful for product photography as well in the future so I’m happy to have a new thing to play with. The first set of images in lavender I sprayed the plexiglass with cooking butter and then blew some flour on the surface. The result is a really dramatic paint like effect. The second set I cleaned up the plexiglass and used a paintbrush and blue paint to do some strategic strokes on it. I wanted to keep the session still really colorful like my usual work. Try using these techniques at home and show me what you create!
