My Twin Lens Photography

Two very different Fall Self Portraits with bold patterns & vintage fabric

This year has been a challenging one to say the least. The overwhelming stress & anxiety brought on by both world events & personal ones have made it a hard year. I’ve felt the weight of keeping a business going amongst an deflating industry. It’s easy to lose focus and slack off on social media or other tasks that help my business. Since I cannot control so many things one thing I can do is keep exercising my creative brain. Taking a clients reschedule moment to instead force myself to create that day. That’s exactly what I did with these images. I took the time to do my hair and makeup in order to boost my confidence & make it a little easier to get in front of the lens. The first set up I did was with the purple backdrop and Black & white polka dot dress. I had ordered this dress with the intention of shooting it in LA when I had scheduled a trip home for August. My trip got cancelled and I had not even worn the dress once so I decided today was the day to shoot in it. I got this new blue hat from Target and thought the colors and pattern would go well together. I find that I can be shy to wear hats in every day but that I still enjoy them in photos. The added bonus is that they often look good on so many models and friends so my collection will have to grow. The first set I feel like is my general brand images where you can tell I love color & pattern and am a generally happy person. The second set was in front of a vintage duvet cover I found at a Goodwill in Seattle. I wanted to shoot something editorial with a model in front but had yet to arrange that. I used my vintage blue dress because it matched the vibe. I found that once I used the fact that it was movable fabric that I could grab that the images began to have more mood in them. I have so many other ideas I hope to work out soon but until then enjoy these.
